David Morin

M.D., RPh, FACP, CPI, CCRT - Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Morin obtained his degree in pharmacy/pre-med with honors from the University of Rhode Island and worked for several years in the Department of Medicinal Organic Chemistry. He received his medical degree with honors from the University of Vermont in 1984 and completed his residency at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville) in 1987. Following completion of his residency, he began his practice of Internal Medicine in Bristol Tennessee/Virginia and was as a teaching attending for East Tennessee State University Medical School. His many leadership roles include Chief of Medicine, Employee Health Director, IRB chairman, and Medical Director of a CRO. In 1993, he started the first bariatric surgery program for severe obesity in the Tri-Cities region. This program still exists today.

He conducted his first study as Principal Investigator in 1989. Eventually, he expanded his clinical research practice and co-founded the first 'stand-alone' clinical research facility in the Tri-Cities (Bristol-Kingsport-Johnson City) in 1995. He gained experience as a PI on hundreds of clinical trials (Phase I-IV) over a 15 year period and occasionally served as a consultant to Pharma during protocol development. He joined Holston Medical Group (HMG) as the Director of Research in 2008 and developed an investigator/coordinator training program which he presented to the ACRP Board in Tampa (2010), toward Credentialed Trainer Status. Dr. Morin remains an active investigator and clinician. In 2012, he received the Global 'Outstanding Leadership in the Profession Award' by the APCR. In addition to his current duties, he is the administrative lead for the Eastman High Risk Disease management program at HMG and is active in the development of ACO tools used to achieve goals on fee-for-performance contracts.

David Morin is serving as Director of Research for Holston Medical Group (HMG) in Kingsport; TN. HMG is a very progressive, multispecialty, physician-owned practice with over 160 providers and nearly 1000 employees. As a group, they provide medical care for over two hundred thousand patients. This visionary group became one of the first in the nation to adopt electronic health records in 1995.

In 2010, Dr. Morin became aware of Lightwave eHealthcare Services efforts in Africa. His interest in these efforts has manifested itself to providing Chief Medical Consulting services to the Lightwave eHealthcare Services.
